Bybit Demo Trading Guide: Practice Futures, Add Virtual Funds and Avoid Live-Account Mistakes

Bybit Demo Trading lets you practise placing and managing crypto orders with virtual assets instead of depositing trading capital. Start by confirming the Demo Trading label, then rehearse an entire order lifecycle before considering live trading; demo profits are not evidence of future returns.

Verified: 2026-09-11. This guide covers the Bybit.com demo environment. Features depend on the service entity and account interface. A Korean-language guide does not establish availability for every Korean resident, and regional Bybit services may offer different products.

How to open a Bybit demo account on web and app

According to the official Demo Trading FAQ, sign in to your existing main account or subaccount and switch to Demo Trading. On the website, check the profile menu; on the app, check profile settings. Look for the Demo Trading label in the header. Start Live Trading returns you to the real account, so it is not the button for starting a practice order.

Before entering an amount, read the account label again. If you cannot clearly identify the environment, stop. A similar layout or a familiar balance is not a reliable substitute for checking which account will receive the order.

Virtual funds: adding a balance is not making a deposit

The FAQ describes Request Demo Funds on the demo asset page when total demo equity is below 10,000 USDT, and an Adjust Demo Funds control for changing simulated balances. Demo assets cannot be withdrawn. The FAQ also states that inactivity for 30 days can clear demo data; save your own practice notes.

Do not pay anyone to activate virtual funds or recover simulated profits. Before adding funds, distinguish a demo balance adjustment from a real deposit, transfer or purchase screen. If the expected control is absent, use official help rather than a link sent by a stranger.

A practical first-session checklist

The following exercise is ByDITT’s independent learning framework, not a Bybit requirement or a trading signal. Its goal is to identify operational mistakes, not to reach a target profit.

Practice task What to record Completion check
Identify the account and market Demo label, symbol and product type You can explain what you are practising without relying on the chart alone.
Review an order before submitting it Direction, quantity, order type and price fields The fields match your written intention.
Check the order after submission Order status and any executed quantity You distinguish an open order from an open position.
Practise changing or cancelling an order Original instruction and resulting status You verify the result rather than assuming the button worked.
Close a practice position Position size before and after the action You check for remaining exposure and unwanted open orders.

Use the same record format for successful and unsuccessful attempts. A useful session may end with no profit but a clear understanding of why an order remained open. A profitable session that leaves unexplained orders is not a completed operational test.

Bybit futures practice: learn the exit before increasing size

Bybit’s step-by-step demo guide explains the simulated UTA and its trading interface. Use only the products actually displayed in your account. Before practising a derivatives order, locate the margin mode, leverage, position quantity and exit controls; do not assume familiar-looking buttons have identical effects across products.

Write down how you intend to exit before entering. After practising a take-profit or stop-loss instruction, inspect the displayed trigger, quantity and status. Distinguish cancelling an unfilled order from closing an existing position. For definitions, consult our Bybit order types guide; this page focuses on practising those controls, not repeating every order definition.

Keep the simulated balance comparable across sessions. Increasing virtual funds after every loss makes results difficult to compare. Record any adjustment separately so that an added balance is not mistaken for trading profit. This is a bookkeeping exercise, not a recommendation for any capital amount or leverage setting.

Demo trading versus testnet and live trading

The official FAQ distinguishes Demo Trading within the main platform from the separate testnet. Demo order execution does not enter the real order book. Do not treat a successful simulation as proof of real-market fills, liquidity or execution costs.

Bybit EU’s regional demo guide describes spot practice, illustrating why a global tutorial must not assume identical product availability. It also highlights execution and emotional differences between practice and live trading. Confirm the service entity instead of changing access details to bypass restrictions.

Before moving to a live account, ask whether you can explain an unfilled order, locate remaining exposure, identify the relevant costs and stop when the screen does not match your intention. If not, there is no need to switch because a demo balance increased. Read our UTA and margin-mode guide for the underlying account structure.

Frequently asked questions

Can I withdraw a Bybit demo profit?

No. A simulated balance is not a claim to real money. Treat anyone promising to release it for a payment as a warning sign.

Do I need to open another account just to practise?

The official FAQ describes switching from an existing main account or subaccount. Check that route before creating any additional account.

Does a good demo result mean I am ready for live futures?

No. Review the process, including mistakes and unexplained results, not only the final balance. A practice result is neither a suitability assessment nor a forecast of returns.
