Whether you can use Bybit depends first on your true country of residence, the Bybit entity and regional site serving your account, and the specific product you want to use. Bybit’s global help center currently lists several excluded jurisdictions, but being absent from that list does not guarantee that every product, payment method, campaign or derivative is available. Select your real residence, complete the required KYC, and treat the live signup, account and product screens as the final availability check.
Verified on August 28, 2026. This independent guide is based on Bybit’s current restricted-jurisdiction notice, account-registration instructions, individual KYC guide, account-settings FAQ and platform terms. Jurisdiction rules, regional entities and product access can change without this page changing at the same moment. Recheck the official pages and your own account before registering, traveling, depositing or opening a position.
The short answer: check four different layers
| Layer | Question to answer | Best current evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Residence and sanctions | Is your true residence an excluded jurisdiction, or are you a prohibited person or entity? | Bybit’s current Service Restricted Countries notice and applicable terms |
| Regional entity | Does signup redirect you to a regional Bybit site or legal entity? | Country-of-residence selection and the legal entity shown during signup |
| KYC | Can your identity and address documents support the residence and issuing country you declare? | Your Identity Verification page and the current document requirements |
| Product | Is the exact spot, derivatives, fiat, P2P, card, Earn or campaign feature available? | The logged-in product page, terms, order screen and Rewards Hub |
These layers are related but not interchangeable. A country can be absent from the global excluded-jurisdiction notice while one payment method, campaign or regulated product is still unavailable. Conversely, seeing a country’s card or payment support on a product page does not override Bybit’s account-level residence, sanctions, KYC or platform restrictions.
1. Which jurisdictions does Bybit currently exclude?
In the global help-center notice last updated August 6, 2026, Bybit says it does not offer services or products to users in several excluded jurisdictions. The named locations are:
- United States
- Chinese Mainland
- Hong Kong
- Singapore
- Canada
- North Korea
- Cuba
- Iran
- Uzbekistan
- Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine, currently including Crimea, Donetsk, Rostov and Luhansk regions
- Sevastopol
- Sudan
- Syria
- Dubai only in the case of the Bybit Virtual Asset Platform Operator LLC entity
This is not a permanent universal whitelist for every country not named. Bybit’s notice also reserves the ability to stop service in other jurisdictions, and the applicable regional entity can matter. The Dubai wording is expressly tied to one Bybit entity; it should not be rewritten as a blanket statement about every UAE resident or every Bybit entity.
Bybit also excludes sanctioned or prohibited parties identified through specified United States, European Union and United Kingdom sanctions lists, as well as entities owned or controlled at or above the threshold stated in its notice. This guide cannot determine whether a person or business is a prohibited party. If sanctions status, beneficial ownership or cross-border business use is relevant, obtain qualified legal advice and review the current applicable terms.
2. What the current list means for users in South Korea
South Korea was not named in Bybit’s global excluded-jurisdiction notice when this guide was verified on August 28, 2026. That is useful evidence, but it is not a promise that every Korean resident can access every Bybit product, referral benefit, deposit route or campaign.
- Choose Republic of Korea or the accurate residence option shown during signup; do not choose another country to force a different route.
- Complete KYC with documents that match your real identity, issuing jurisdiction and residence.
- Check whether the exact product is displayed after login. Spot, derivatives, P2P, fiat payments, cards, Earn and promotional tasks can have different eligibility rules.
- For crypto transfers to or from a Korean exchange, verify the destination platform’s Travel Rule, name-match, asset, network and recipient requirements before sending.
- Check Korean law, reporting, tax and virtual-asset rules independently. Availability on Bybit is not legal or tax advice and does not determine your local obligations.
A Korean-language page should therefore answer “not currently named on the global excluded list” rather than “fully available without restriction.” This distinction protects users from relying on a broad claim when a live product screen or local rule says otherwise.
3. Country of residence, nationality and current location are different
| Field | What it normally describes | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Country of residence | Where you genuinely live and are resident | Bybit asks for it during signup and KYC; it can determine regional routing and access |
| ID-issuing country | The jurisdiction that issued your identity document | KYC asks for it separately and checks the document type |
| Nationality | Your citizenship or national status | It may matter for sanctions, entity and verification rules even when residence differs |
| Current physical location | Where you are connecting from now | Travel to a restricted jurisdiction can trigger logout or access limits |
Do not assume that an email address, foreign phone number, second citizenship or temporary internet location replaces your true residence. Bybit’s registration guide says users must select their country of residence and may be redirected to a regional site or shown a restriction notice. Its KYC guide separately asks for current residence and the country or region that issued the identity document.
For a complete document workflow, see the Bybit KYC troubleshooting guide. If the registration details, KYC documents and actual residence do not align, pause and resolve the discrepancy through official support rather than repeatedly submitting altered information.
4. Why a VPN is not a compliance solution
A VPN can change the apparent network location, but it cannot change residence, nationality, sanctions status, KYC documents or the terms that apply to an account. BYDITT does not provide instructions for bypassing Bybit’s geographic controls.
Bybit’s current restricted-jurisdiction notice says that false representations about location or residence can lead to actions that include immediate account termination and liquidation of open positions. That is a material trading risk: a workaround that appears to restore a login can leave account facts inconsistent and can put funds or leveraged positions at risk.
- Do not select a false residence at registration.
- Do not submit another person’s address or identity document.
- Do not use a VPN to represent that you are in a supported country.
- Do not move activity through another person’s account or create duplicate KYC identities.
- Do not open a leveraged position if you may lose access while traveling.
5. What happens if you travel to a restricted jurisdiction?
Bybit’s account-settings FAQ says users visiting a supported country should generally be able to access their account. When the system detects that a user is in a service-restricted area, it may automatically log the user out. The FAQ says access can return after the user leaves that jurisdiction.
Do not interpret that description as a guarantee that open orders or positions are safe from every market event. A logout can prevent normal risk management while prices continue moving. The FAQ directs a user who urgently needs to cancel orders or close a position from a restricted area to contact Bybit Live Chat and provide the required consent.
Before departure, check every destination and transit location against Bybit’s latest restricted-jurisdiction notice; reduce or close positions that would be dangerous if account access were interrupted; review open orders, liquidation risk, funding, collateral and automated strategies; and never rely on a VPN as a substitute for Bybit’s permission to access the account.
If you are already in a restricted location, use Bybit’s official support channel and explain the urgent order or position action required. Do not hand credentials or remote-device control to someone claiming to be support.
6. KYC and residence checks before registration
Bybit’s current individual verification guide separates Standard, Advanced and Pro checks. Standard includes an identity assessment and proof of identity; Advanced adds proof of address; Pro adds enhanced due diligence. Some regions can require extra verification, and additional documents may still be requested for withdrawals or fiat transactions.
| Check before submitting KYC | Why it prevents avoidable failure |
|---|---|
| Accurate current residence | Bybit says residence can influence the verification process and later changes may require more verification |
| Correct ID-issuing country | Supported document types and checks can differ by issuing jurisdiction |
| Unaltered, readable document | Name, date of birth and document details must be visible and reliable |
| Recent address evidence when required | Bybit’s current guide says proof of address generally must be dated within the last three months |
| Matching account ownership | Identity, payment-account and Travel Rule name differences can interrupt fiat or crypto transfers |
| Product-specific eligibility | Successful KYC does not make every regulated product or campaign universally available |
If a country does not appear in the mobile-number list, do not infer either approval or prohibition from that field alone. Bybit’s FAQ says email registration may be available when the user is not from a restricted country, but the country-of-residence step, KYC result and regional routing still control.
7. A safer signup and product-access checklist
- Read the current exclusion notice: check the official update date and wording, not an old screenshot or third-party list.
- Select your real residence and note any regional redirect and the legal entity named in the signup terms.
- Confirm the referral field before submitting: Bybit’s current registration guide says a referral or affiliate code should be entered before signup and cannot later be added, changed or removed.
- Complete KYC accurately: use your own valid documents and answer the residence and identity questions truthfully.
- Secure the account: enable the appropriate authentication and withdrawal controls before transferring material value.
- Open the exact product page: verify that the intended spot, futures, options, P2P, fiat, Earn or campaign feature is visible and eligible.
New users who independently decide that Bybit is available and suitable for their residence can open the Bybit registration page with affiliate code BYBITDC.
Before submitting, verify that BYBITDC is shown in the referral field and read the actual fee benefit, regional eligibility and campaign terms displayed to your account.
A referral link cannot override residence, KYC, sanctions, product or legal restrictions.
8. Product availability is narrower than account availability
Being able to create or access an account is not proof that every service is open. Bybit can apply separate terms to derivatives, local entities, fiat payment providers, P2P, cards, Earn products, institutional services and promotional campaigns. A payment page’s supported-country list can refer to card issuance or provider coverage rather than general account eligibility.
- Derivatives: verify whether the contract is offered to your account and understand leverage, liquidation, market, custody and regulatory risks.
- Fiat and cards: check provider identity, supported issuing country, currency, fees, name match and additional KYC.
- P2P: confirm local availability, verified-name requirements, payment-provider rules and appeal limitations.
- Campaigns: read the event’s own excluded-country list and task page; it can be stricter than the general platform list.
- Transfers: check the sending and receiving platforms’ asset, network, memo or tag and Travel Rule requirements.
For transfer planning, use the Bybit deposit, withdrawal and network-safety guide. For account setup, use the Bybit registration checklist. Those guides explain the mechanics; this page is intentionally focused on jurisdiction, residence, KYC and travel access.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bybit available in South Korea in 2026?
South Korea was not named in Bybit’s global excluded-jurisdiction notice on August 28, 2026. That does not guarantee universal access. Korean residents should select their true residence, complete the required KYC and verify each product, payment method and campaign in the live account.
Can a resident of an excluded jurisdiction register by email?
No registration method should be used to evade a jurisdiction restriction. An email can solve the absence of a mobile-number option only when the user is otherwise eligible; it does not change residence, sanctions status or Bybit’s terms.
Can I use Bybit with a VPN while traveling?
A VPN does not create eligibility and should not be used to misrepresent location or residence. Bybit warns that false location or residence representations can trigger account action, including termination and liquidation of open positions.
Will my positions close automatically when I enter a restricted country?
Bybit’s account-settings FAQ says users detected in a restricted area may be logged out and describes existing orders and positions as not being affected by that logout. Market risk still continues while access is interrupted. For an urgent cancellation or position close, follow the FAQ’s instruction to contact official Live Chat and provide the required consent.
Does successful KYC prove that every Bybit product is legal and available?
No. KYC verifies identity and related information under Bybit’s process; it does not replace local law or product-specific eligibility. Check the exact logged-in product page and obtain professional advice when legal, tax or regulatory questions are material.
Can BYBITDC or another referral code remove regional restrictions?
No. A referral code can affect eligible referral attribution or displayed benefits, but it cannot change residence, KYC, sanctions, the applicable legal entity or product availability.
